Your financial institution may offer you a personal loan even if you have a bad credit history. A bad credit rating may occur if you have been late on payments on a regular basis, or by defaulting on a previous loan. This can occur if you've gotten in over your head with repayments.

If you have gotten your act together and have been able to save some money up and have control over your finances, your financial institution may be able to offer you a bad credit personal loan.

Unfortunately, you may be subject to more terms and conditions on your personal loan and you may be required to pay higher interest. If you have collateral such as a car, you may be able to get a secured personal loan.
