NAB, or the National Australia Bank, is a retail bank that is part of a huge financial network of an international organisation called The Group that has business operations in three regional places. These include New Zealand, the UK/Europe area, and Australia.

In the case of NAB, the bank traces its roots to the National Bank of Australasia which started its operations in early 1858. Since then, however, NAB has decided to chart a totally different course, embarking on a mission to provide a full-range of banking services that include concession bank deposit accounts, various types of insurance products, and extension of safe and affordable loans.

Despite being heavily involved in international banking, NAB is one Australian bank that seeks to provide affordable financial assistance to all types of people living in Australia, even to those who are economically disadvantaged. In fact, in the early part of 2006, the bank released a plan whereby financially marginalised individuals and their families can avail of easy-to-pay loans spread over a period of three years which they can use to either start their own business or embark on building a new and better life.

Aside from providing basic banking services, NAB is also involved in several non-banking work, particularly those that help promote the well-being of the community where it belongs. Specifically, the bank has been a regular supporter of various non-profit organisations based in Australia either by giving donations or partnering with these groups in launching different community programs.

Just recently, NAB entered into an agreement with the Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation wherein it will extend financial support to the latter so the foundation can undertake more extensive research works on anaphylaxis and food allergies. The assistance will commence immediately and is expected to last for at least ten years during which public awareness on food allergies will also be a main focus.
